On March 7, on the eve of the International Day for the Fighting of Women and Peace, under the chairmanship of Oleksandra Churkina, Deputy Minister of Social Policy on European Integration and Rostyslav Dzundza chairman Bureau of sosial and political developments, an expert meeting "Assessment of Ukraine's Implementation of EU Anti-discrimination Directives on Equality and Non-discrimination in access to labor, provision of services and social security was held. During the event an analytical report "Analysis of regulation of compliance with the principles of equality and non-discrimination in access to employment, provision of services and social security" an assessment of the state of implementation of Ukraine by EU anti-discrimination Directives was presented.
The study was prepared by a group of experts within the project activity of the NGO "Bureau of Social and Political Developments" with the financial support of the European Union and the International Renaissance Foundation within the framework of the "Public Synergy" grants component. According to the results of the analysis of domestic legislation - the Constitution of Ukraine, the Code of Labor Laws, the Tax, Civil and Commercial Codes, more than 150 laws of Ukraine and more than 1 thousand subordinate legal acts. The conducted work allowed for a legal assessment of the EU Directives and to develop recommendations for their implementation by the state institutions of Ukraine. This report is prepared specifically for managers in the field of social policy, law and other related spheres. It is aimed at strengthening the expert capacity of the Government and authorities to implement anti-discrimination directives; as well as expert support of their implementation by the executive authorities in particular, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
The event was attended by public authorities, heads of ministry departments and specialists responsible for European integration of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine, the Central Executive Authorities, the International Labor Organization, the scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine from the Institute of Labor and Employment, the Center for Problems of Implementation of European Social Law, experts of the Coalition "For Equality labor ", the Delegation of the EU Delegation in Ukraine, Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, representatives of trade unions and business.
Participants appreciated the results of the implementation in Ukraine of the six EU Antidiscrimination Directives which focus on equal opportunities for Ukrainian citizens: to combine family and career regardless of gender, to build a social security system taking into account the principle of gender equality, to introduce the principle of gender-equal treatment in access to goods and services, the field of media, advertising and education.
